The Weekend on Lake Issaqueena again

Allen and I took the new john boat out to Issaqueena this weekend. A test run of sorts.

The trolling motor has a short in it and about half way around the lake the reverse went out...thankfully the forward motion still worked.

Allen seemed to have had a great time although he only caught one fish (which was too small to keep).

But "it's the fishing that he went for and the boating, not the catching", so he said.

It was nice to get away for the day together, I just wished that I hadn't gotten so burnt.

Lesson learned, apply sunscreen over entire body.

We are both off work on Thursday, for the entire day...so we are going to NC for Allen to do a little trout fishing. We both are looking forward to spending time together again.

Yesterday, Allen & I took the metal canoe out to Lake Issaqueena....Allen has been chomping at the bit to get the boat wet. Mainly to see if he will be able to handle the boat with his foot or not. I am proud to say to he did fine.

We had a great time...the weather was nice.

We paddled around for a little while and when I say "we" I really mean Allen. I don't do hardly any of the paddling. It's just not my thing, not to mention that I have no upper body strength...so Allen gets to have all the fun. (hehe)
We did have a little scare once, we hit a tree stump that was under water and it made the boat almost tip over...I was afraid that we were going to get really wet.
I asked Allen if he thought that he'd still be able to swim now with his foot injury and he said that he's sure that he'd be able to safe himself, if he had to. I'm thankful for that.

Scott (Allen's brother from another mother) came and I let him have my place in the boat for a while. They seemed to have a good time. Although Scott caught a fish and Allen didn't.
I sat on the dock and enjoyed the quiet time. It was so relaxing....I needed that so much.

Hopefully we will go again really soon.

Mother's Day 2011

I had one of the best Mother's Day today.....It started out quiet and nice....I got up before Allen or Brandy....enjoyed a cup of coffe on the front porch with my dog, Buster....enjoyed listening to the birds singing....we had many of them, since I filled the feeders up on Saturday.
Then I cooked a light breakfast for Allen and myself and we ate on the porch.
It was nice to relax the morning away.
Then I got all dressed up and fixed my new hairdo (I got a new cut and color on Friday--treated myself).....Had a nice photo shoot at the house......then we went to lunch at The Main Street Diner of Easley....Nana, Clyde, Deneen and Billy joined us.
After in the afternoon, Brandy's friend, Ethan came and picked up Brandy and me, he took us to The Icecream Station in Easley and treated us to icecream.....from there we went down to the new gazebo/water fountain and enjoyed a few minutes there.
After Allen and I, Brandy and Ethan went out to eat at Michael's Pizzaria and had supper.

My Day was wonderfully spent with my family.

I asked for 2 more Knockout rose bushes to finish my flower bed and I picked them up Saturday and worked in the yard most of the day and got all of that finished...my yard is looking better and better as the season goes along.

sorry I was thinking only of myself earlier....here's an update on Allen:
Yesterday we went to a new doctor in Greer...a prothesis doctor. Allen really liked him and thought that he would see great results from him.
The doctor took molds of both of Allen's feet, the good one and bad one. He is going to make him show inserts for his regular boots and the one for the bad foot will be built up on the outside ankle side so that it will help stablize it so that there willnot be so much pain.
The past two to three weeks have been especially hard on him, since it's the busy season at the store, he is up on his feet almost the entire day.
I am praying that the inserts will be a miraclous fit and a fast relief for him.

Not really sure what's going on lately....just a little bit emotional, I guess. I feel sometimes that I am invisable to the entire world, or at least to my family.
I feel so underappreciated and unloved right now.....I keep praying that this feeling will go away but so far it hasn't.

Maybe if I will continue to write it down, maybe in time it will go away and stay away.

Our 25th Wedding Anniversary

Today is Allen and my 25th Wedding Anniversary....can't believe it's been 25 years that we've been married. It does not seems that long ago that we were planning the wedding, taking engagement photos and planning out our future.
For the most part, all have been going as planned. We've had our share of bumps in the road and alot of trials, but we've come through all of them and we're even closer and love each other even more because of them.
God is so good and I pray that we have many, many more years together to make our love grow bigger and stronger.
Allen, I love you with every bit of myself and will FOREVER AND ALWAYS.
You are my world, my love, my life.

Computers can be such a headache.

well here at the Duncan household, computers have been a big headache for me lately.....virus on the laptop....been down for over a week now.
But I think that I have finally gotten it fixed.
I have never had real computer training but thanks to my curious nature, I think that I do pretty good.
Please pray that this is now fixed....and for good this time.

Time seems to be flying by and also standing still at the same time. I know that sounds very confusing or weird, but that's just how it seems.
It's been 3 months since my last post and a lot has happened.
Allen was in a motorcycle accident on June 30th, which was Brandy's birthday, and was in the hospital for 3 weeks. He had to have half of his right foot amputated. He is now on crutches and is getting around pretty well on one leg. The surgeons don't know when he'll be able to walk on the foot again but hopefully with a lot of work and prayers, it will be sometime before Christmas.
He has some good days and bad days and a whole lot of bad nights.
His spirits are like riding a rollercoaster, up and down.
I wish that I could magically make all of his pain go away but our world doesn't work that way. The reality is that it's going to take months and months for him to get back to himself and to be totally healed. I have to clean the wound and redress the foot every night. This puts him in pain and I hate being the one to make it hurt.
I pray that the foot heals properly and that another amputation will not be necessary. Please pray with me.

As this summer has come upon us...i have been just too busy. I have set a goal to slow down and just try to enjoy life one day at a time.
This weekend is Father's Day and I can't stop thinking about my own sweet Daddy, who went home to be with Jesus in October.
I truly miss him but I'm so glad that he is not suffering anymore.

Happy Father's Day Daddy.... Your baby girl loves you.

Allen and I went to The Veteran's Ride in Anderson. There were about 1000 bikes that rode in it. We left the Sheriff's Dept and rode for about 10 miles, 2 by 2, to the Veteran's Nursing Home, were we put all our donations (pants, sweatshirts, socks, etc.) in the back of a big pickup truck out in front of the nursing home. As the bikes pulled into the home, we did a figure 8 out in front of the home, there all the Veterans who live at the home were all sitting out front, some in there pjs, some with there dress military jackets on. It was awesome to see them, some even saluted us as we rode by them. I have participated in rides before but never like this one.

November 28, 2008 we spent the entire day together.

Deneen's birthday. Her 44th one I might add. She will love that I added that.

We went shopping, then to Greenville Westend shops, then to Overlook Grille for lunch.

We walked across the bridge. Deneen had not been there before.

Worth seeing.

I took the day off for my birthday. I had made all the plans for the day, I was going to get up early and go to the Pickens Flea Market, then back home for a nap, then lunch, a visit to Riddle Farm Supply to see Allen and then go to the movies. Well my day didn't go exactly as planned but it was a wonderful birthday.
Me and my beautiful daughter spent the entire day together.

We did go to the flea market. But we didn't get there until kinda late, so alot of people were already heading home. I did find another platter that matched my treasury hunt collection.
We went to see my sister Deneen (she had just gotten out of the shower).

Brandy cooked supper for all of us and then we spent the rest of the evening out at the cabin, taking pictures.

This is Louis, my birthday present from my dear husband. Isn't he handsome?!!!

My September 11 memory

I just want to say that September 11, 2001 will forever be in the hearts of all Americans. It will be forever in my memory. But another September 11th memory is and will be closer to my heart than the one in 2001.
On September 1991, 10 years before the terrorist attack, I was fighting to save my unborn baby. At five months pregnant, having contractions, bleeding, the doctor's says that they can't find a heartbeat. I go to the hospital a few hours later, the ultrasound shows no heartbeat, one hour later, delivered prematurely.
Jamie Lee Duncan came and was gone in an instant.
We prayed the entire week before this day. Lord please don't let our baby die. But for reasons that we have yet to understand, our baby died. God's plan is greater than ours, we know this and someday we will be with our baby again and will understand the reason why he was not a part of our daily life here on earth.
I think of him everyday. I wonder how our lives would be, had he been with us these 17 years, how Brandy's life would have been with a brother to grow up with.
Well I haven't talk with very many people about our grief over our baby, but for some reason I felt the need to put my memory here.
I will not go into the details of all that transpired the week before my most horrifying day, September 11, 1991. But it was and will most probably be the worst day of my life.
My heart goes out to all who have lost a child, I pray for you, please pray for me.

Well this weekend was Allen's 48th birthday. We stayed at home most of the day and did a little yard work, which we both love to do. Brandy and Cody came over and we all went to Nana & Clyde's for a joined hotdog supper. It was their 5th wedding anniversary as well as Allen's birthday.

My darlin' husband does not look his age, he looks so much younger.

Blue Day

Well today was a blue day for me this morning, but as the day went by it got better.

I had a very full evening last night with my dad and was so tired when I got back home last night and then this morning when I got to work had received an email that just tore me up.

It was a powerpoint presentation with Josh Gorban singing. It was about parents and kids.

Well needless to say after spending the evening with my aging dad and then seeing this, I was in a very depressed mood, UNTIL Brandy and Caroline (my daughter and my neice) paid me a visit at my office. It was wonderful seeing them and at just the right time.

Sunday is Dad's Birthday, he'll be 71 years old.

His health is getting worse and he's going through a lot right now with his kidneys failing, but we're trying to enjoy our time together and trying to get together more often.

Today is a typical day...work, arrands, etc.
Not sure why I decided to write a few lines, but here I am.

Allen's birthday is coming up at the end of the month, so is my dad's and my nephew, Gage's.

I have tried a number of times to add my google calendar to my blog, but for some reason or another, I haven't been able to get it.
I would like for my family to know what's coming up.

I have talked with Tracy, Allen's cousin from Alabama, about this zoo that is in her neighborhood. She and the kids have gone there many times.. I'm going to try and post the website link to this blog, so that you can look at the place.

Last night was a great night. Allen had his 30 year class reunion. Easley High Class of 1978.

My husband was so handsome. He looks so young, much younger than his other classmates.

We had a wonderful time. It was nice to dress up and go out. We don't go out as much as we use to. Becoming older has made us somewhat of homebodies.

I don't know who will ever see this blog thing of mine, but I will try to remember to post something from time to time, just for future stake.
